Audio Clips from past conferences

Sample the LDSEHE conference experience!

Now you can get a taste of what our conference and seminar classes are like by listening to a few audio samples from both youth and parent classes.  We've selected only a few from our ever-growing cache of classic LDSEHE recordings (soon to be offered in our new online audio store for download purchases!).

As you listen, imagine you're amid dozens of other LDS homeschool families from all over the Eastern US and Canada, thumbing casually through hundreds of books and resources in the vendor hall, asking speakers your own questions, and enjoying the fun and inspirational activities for the whole family each evening.  And this year... right on the beach with the ocean breezes... it's going to be another great conference experience that you won't want to miss.

Science and Religion
LDSEHE 2008, Youth Class

David Wright has not only been teaching physics and astronomy to college students for over 30 years, but has also been hosted on 2 TV talk shows and performs physic shows at Busch Gardens in Virginia and Florida.  He delighted us, young and old, with his science show in 2008.  In this class, he discusses with the youth the role of faith in science and the infinite nature of the universe.  With the aid of magnets, raw eggs, and bicycle wheels he helps the student of science understand the relationship between science and religion.  He's coming back to LDSEHE this year with a new show and teaching the youth again.

She teaches that it is possible to put JOY back into motherhood and teaching, and that stress is just a symptom--a misperception.  She is back, due to mulitiple and repeated requests, to this year's conference.

"I have pondered over the notes I took in your class and have shared parts of your presentation with several of my friends... It was good for me to hear that certain kinds of doubts are still felt by others who have been at it longer and it is only when taken to the right source of trusting His understanding over ours, that true growth and wisdom is gained." - B. UT

Starting in the Middle: Transitioning From Public School to Homeschool
LDSEHE 2010, Mentor Mom Class (Moms Teaching Moms)

The largest growth in homeschooling comes from families pulling out of the public schools.  Some children transtions smoothly, others struggle.  In this class Tina teaches how to prepare for the transition if you haven't done it yet, or how to better deal with it if you're somewhere in the middle.  Tina draws from her own experiences as well as three other families who have survived "the transition," and gives tips on how to formulate a family plan for transitioning and gain buy-in from reluctant youth.

Teaching Boys and Other Children Who Would Rather Make Forts All Day
LDSEHE 2010, Excellence in Writing Seminar

Children like to do what they can do; they want to do what they think they can do, and they hate to do what they think they cannot do. If you want excited and enthusiastic children who learn well, you must understand these key laws of motivation, and focus on the essential requirement of relevancy. If it matters, children will learn it, and if it doesn’t, they won’t.  Andrew Paduwa, director of the Institute for Excellence in Writing and father of 7 homeschooled children is a popular speaker for teachers and homeschool parents across the nation and Canada.  In this session he enlightens parents with specific ways to find and create relevancy for children, even when they have no apparent interest.
