Board Positions
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors has six voting members: the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer and three Directors. All positions are voluntary and unpaid.
Chairman
The Chairman presides over all meetings of the Board of Directors. He/she is also the chief advisor to the Executive Board and oversees all aspects of LDSHE. The Chairman must have served on the Executive Board for at least one full term (1 year) and coordinated and/or directed at least one LDSEHE Conference. The term of service for the Chairman of the Board is 3 years.

Vice Chairman
The Vice Chairman provides support to the Chairman, substitutes for the Chairman as necessary, and serves as an advisor to the Executive Board. He/she must have served on the Executive Board for at least one full term (1 year) and must have coordinated and/or directed at least one LDSEHE Conference. The term of service for the Vice Chairman of the Board is 3 years.

Directors
Three Directors serve concurrently on the Board of Directors. They are advisors to the Executive Board. Each Director must have served on the Executive Board for at least one full term (1 year), or must have expertise and/or experience in home education, management, conference/event planning or other related experience. The term of service for Directors is 2 years.

Treasurer
He/she oversees the collection and accounting of all funds, membership dues, expenditures and financial matters of LDSEHE. The Treasurer must have experience in accounting, finance, and the management of incoming and outgoing funds. The term of service for the Treasurer is 1 year, renewable annually.

Executive Board
There Executive Board has five voting members: the President, Vice President, Secretary, Publicity Director and Web Team Leader. All positions are voluntary and unpaid.
President
The President presides over the Executive Board and all operational offices of LDSEHE. He/she oversees all day-to-day affairs of LDSEHE, including the planning of the annual conference. The President must have experience in leadership and home education. He/she must possess excellent communication and organization skills. The President must be able to commit to many hours of service to LDSEHE on a weekly basis, year-round. The term of service for the President is 1 year, renewable annually.

Vice President
The Vice President oversees all activities pertaining to the Youth Education Conference. He/she substitutes for the President when needed. The Vice President must possess leadership experience, experience in home education and the ability to work well with youth. He/she must also have excellent communication and organizational skills. The Vice President must be able to commit to many hours of service to LDSEHE on a weekly basis, year-round. The term of service for the Vice President is 1 year, renewable annually.

Secretary
The Secretary assists the President as needed. Other duties include information management, overseeing the communication between board members and members of LDSEHE, and overseeing membership/database records. He/she must possess excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to work well with people. Technical/computer skills (e-mail, spreadsheets, database, word processing, etc.) are necessary. The Secretary must be able to commit to many hours of service to LDSEHE on a weekly basis, year-round. The term of service for the Secretary is 1 year, renewable annually.

Publicity Director
The Publicity Director oversees the Publicity Committee. With the approval of the Executive Board, he/she designs and implements a yearly publicity plan focused around the annual conference. He/she also works with the Executive Board to design and execute a long-term publicity plan. The Publicity Director must have experience in event promotion/publicity/marketing and possess excellent communication skills. He/she must be able to commit to many hours of service to LDSEHE on a weekly basis, at various times throughout the year. The term of service for the Publicity Director is 1 year, renewable annually.

Web Team Leader
The Web Team Leader oversees all aspects of the LDSEHE website. He/she works with the Executive Board to assess the needs of LDSEHE and then develops and manages the website to meet those needs. The Web Team Leader must have experience in design and web building. He/she must be able to commit to many hours of service to LDSEHE on a weekly basis, at various times throughout the year. The term of service for the Web Team Leader is 1 year, renewable annually.

Board Assistants
The Board Assistants (including Advisors to the Board) lend support and assistance in many areas of LDSEHE, but are not voting members of either the Board of Directors or the Executive Board. All positions are voluntary and unpaid.
Executive Board Assistants
Executive Board Assistants work closely with the President and Executive Board. At various times throughout the year, he/she may help the Executive Board with projects and special assignments that help further the mission of LDSEHE and help with the annual conference. The term of service for the Executive Board Assistants is 1 year, renewable annually.

Assistant to the Treasurer
The Assistant to the Treasurer helps the Treasurer with all financial duties relating to LDSHE. He/she also helps with conference registration, collection of fees, etc. He/she must possess accounting accuracy and the ability to commit hours of service in 3 months leading up to the conference, and at the conference itself. The term of service for the Assistant to the Treasurer is 1 year, renewable annually.

Web Team
The Web Team works under the direction of the Web Team Leader. They help in all manners relating to LDSEHE’s presence on the web, including website design, database design and management, on-line registration and sales of materials, etc. The Web Team must have excellent design and management skills and be able to commit to many hours of work on a weekly basis, at various times throughout the year. The term of service for the Web Team is 1 year, renewable annually.

Conference Planning Committee
The Conference Committee consists of 3-5 members who work closely with the Executive Board. Under the direction of the President, they help research, plan, coordinate and implement all aspects of the annual conference. The committee begins work on the conference immediately following the previous year’s conference. They must be enthusiastic about home education, excited about the LDSEHE conference and committed to the mission of LDSEHE. They must be willing to work as a team. The Conference Committee must be willing to commit many hours of work on a weekly basis (including weekly or semi-weekly conference calls) at various times in the year preceding the conference. They must attend the conference and work at various times during the conference. The term of service for the Conference Committee is 1 year, although they may be invited to serve again.

Youth Conference Planning Committee
The Youth Conference Committee consists of 5-7 youth members who work closely with the Vice President. Under the direction of the Vice President, they help research, plan, coordinate and implement all aspects of the annual Youth Education Conference. The committee begins work on the conference immediately following the previous year’s conference. They must be enthusiastic about home education, excited about the Youth Conference and committed to the mission of LDSEHE. They must be willing to work as a team. The Youth Committee must be willing to commit many hours of work on a weekly basis (including weekly or semi-weekly conference calls) at various times in the year preceding the conference. They must attend the conference and work at various times during the conference. The term of service for the Youth Conference Committee is 1 year, although they may be invited to serve again.

Advisors to the Board of Directors
The Advisors to the Board are individuals with extensive experience in home education and related issues. They serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Directors and/or Executive Board, as needed. They may be invited to join in conference calls with the board, or lend their experience and advice. They must be devoted to the cause of home education and the mission of LDSEHE.
