TJEd for Latter-day Saints Seminar
After last year’s pre-conference Thomas Jefferson Education seminar, the comment we heard most often was “do it again!” So, we are. We know that many LDS home educators are interested in the TJEd principles and are always looking for more help at implementing them. But, as the board and conference committee of LDSEHE, we felt that we could, and should, offer you more.
This year we are offering a brand-new, unique seminar—TJEd for Latter-day Saints. This is the only seminar of its kind that we know of…anywhere. Hear of the principles, philosophies and practices of a TJEd homeschool as taught within the walls of a Latter-day Saint home. Learn about TJEd principles as they come directly from our own core book, the Book of Mormon, and further testified of from our Latter-day prophets.
Our theme for this special seminar is “Parents on the Path of Wisdom: How to Follow the Spirit in your LDS TJEd homeschool.” It’s not about “how to TJEd” like Sister X’s family, or “how to mentor” like Brother Z. It’s all about how to discern through the Spirit your children’s needs and how to meet them, all the while recognizing the special and unique missions that you and your children have.
Our speakers for this seminar, Angela Baker, Elizabeth Merrell and Dr. Julie Earley, have years of experience in leadership education and are popular speakers at TJEd venues and conferences. We feel confident that they will inspire you to better implement the TJEd principles in your LDS home.
The morning portion of the seminar will be divided into two separate tracks; one aimed at the those who don’t know too much about TJEd but are interested in learning more, and the other aimed at more experienced TJEd homeschoolers. Then, the afternoon classes will bring us back together to discuss issues aimed at both the novice and the veteran. Overall, we hope you will leave this seminar informed and inspired to do a little better, and reach a little higher in your leadership education home.
